When a fire starts in Queens, a news reporter attempts to get the scoop from a rambling eccentric named Lorraine. It’s “Grey Gardens” meets local news in this brilliant sendup of awkward TV appearances written by and starring Cole Escola. "Lorraine Was On The News!" only needs one shot — a slow track-in to an old TV — to perfectly caricature the loopy woman incapable of giving a straight answer. Tasked with describing the emergency situation, she’s off on tangents about horses, daggers, and old family friend named Jerry. Escola gives a genius performance as the squirmy woman managing to reveal intimate details about her family (“you know, dad could be mean”) while hilariously avoiding the simple question, “where did the fire start?” Directed by Doron Max Hagay.
